“Annual Pahan Pooja” a religious ceremony to bestow merit on Late Deshabandu Dr. Hudson Silva and Mrs.Silva and those who donated eyes & tissues, was held at the historical “Kataragama Kiri Vehera” On 01st April 2023 with the participation of a large gathering of devotees.
A few buses left from the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society head office carrying members of the society, the staff and relatives of those who donated eyes and tissues.
A beautiful pageant with the participation of devotees bearing the “Kanchuka Flag” was started at 3.00 pm from the Muslim Mosque at the Kataragama Pooja Bhoomi and reached the Kiri Vehera and a “Bodhi Pooja” was conducted to bestow merit on Late Deshabandu Dr. Hudson Silva and Mrs. Silva and those who donated eyes & tissues.
On completion of the religious activities, sufficient numbers of stand fans were donated to the temple in collaboration with the officers of the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society.
Following day, the devotees were able to pilgrim the historical “Sithul Pawwa”. A special eye-checking program was held there to distribute spectacles.
