A program of donating books and study materials to students of an underprivileged primary school at Meemure, Kaikawala in Kandy district was organized on 11th February 2023 by the officers and staff of the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society with their generous contribution.
At the beginning, the principal of the school, Mr.A.M.K.G.Gamini Aberatne delivered the welcome speech. By representing the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society, Hony. General Secretary Mr.A.B.A.Sampath De Silva explained the objective of the gathering and the Senior Manager Mr.Janath Saman Matara Arachchi made an awareness speech to the gathering on the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society with its history and the humanitarian services rendered to mankind.
On completion of the event, gift parcels of school uniforms and study materials were distributed among all the students of the school. In addition to that, a metal gate worth of Rs.100,000.00, a few whiteboards, garbage bins, etc. have been donated to the school.
An eye-checking program of the students was also done and 08 students were identified with low vision and given high-quality spectacles later. Another program of free distribution of spectacles to the public was carried out in parallel with the above program.
