A program of donating books and study materials to students of under privilege primary school at Puwakpitiya, Vilgamuwa in Matale district was organized on 02nd March 2019 by the officers and the staff of Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society with their generous contribution.
After the religious observances the principal of the school Mr.P.G.V.B.Dissanayake has delivered the welcome speech and explained the objective of the gathering. By representing the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society, the senior manager Mr.Janath Saman Matara Arachchi has made an awareness program to the gathering on Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society with its history and the humanitarian services rendered to the mankind.
In addition a program on “Personality development” was carried out for school children by Mr.Hasitha Jayawardena a resource person from the staff of Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society. On completion of the event gift parcels, school uniforms and study materials were distributed among all the students of the school. In addition to that equipment related to public address system and 02 microphones worth of Rs.50,000.00 have been donated to the school.
Another program of distribution of spectacles to the public on free of charge was carried out in parallel with the above program and community care program on checking blood sugar and blood pressure of the people in area were carried out in collaboration with few garment factories, and the team was able to distribute readymade garments to the needy people in the area.
