An eye camp to perform free surgery for patients from low-income families suffering from cataracts, selected from different parts of the island, will be held every Monday from 08th July 2024 at the operating theatre of Dr. Hudson Silva Eye Hospital, affiliated with the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society.
Under this project, 800 patients will be operated on completely free of charge. All these surgeries are performed by the consultant eye surgeon Dr. M.Shamintha Amaratunga, and the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society has allocated over 40 million rupees for this eye camp, which provides free contact lenses, medical services, laboratory services, medicines and food to the patients.
