An eye camp was held on March 24th and April 15th to 17th to perform cataract surgeries for low-income people all over the island. The surgeries were done 100% free of charge, including meals and accommodation and 511 patients underwent the surgeries.
Specialist Eye Surgeon Dr.S.Amaratunge was performed all the surgeries and the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society spent more than 20 million rupees for this humanitarian project.
This eye camp was done during a period when the performing of cataract surgeries had been stopped even at the National Eye Hospital. It was the specialty of this program.
At the end of the program, some gifts were given to the staff who had given their support for the success of this event.
