National Eye Donation Day was celebrated with the participation of Chief of the Defense Staff Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Jagath Abeysiri Gunawardene, Few ambassadors, Local and Foreign dignitaries.
Few eye corneas were handed over to Mr.Akira Sugiyama, His Excellency the Ambassador of Japan and Mrs.Ayesha Abubakar, the Secretary of Pakistan Embassy in order to symbolize the great international service rendered by the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society. Apart from that few computer accessories were presented by Mrs.Ayesha Abubakar to be used in Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society.
In addition to that human tissue was handed over to father of Miss R.K.Maheshika as she has to be underwent a surgery at Kegalle General Hospital. Mr.A.B.A.Sampath De Silva, the Hon. Treasurer of Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society delivered the speech on Dr. Hudson Silva Memorial day.
Dry ration parcels were handed over to the Sri Lanka Welfare Society of the Blind and Sri Lanka Welfare Society of the Blind Women to be distributed among their families.
In appreciation of 15 years unblemished service rendered to the Society by Laboratory Assistant Mr.K.K.Dulinda Imesha Wimalasurendra was obtained a role of honour from Army Director General Major General Suraj Bansajaya.
