Another Special activity done by the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society was free Eye checkups and donations of spectacles for poor and needy people in the country. The last such program conducted was by the society in collaboration with “Manusath Derana” 50th program at Welimada, Bogahakumbura Maha Vidyalaya on 25th January 2020. At this program on the appreciation of the humanitarian service rendered by the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society, we were received a special appreciation award from the Manusath Derana.
In this program a free eye checkups and donations of spectacles among 534 people in the area and signing of 212 consent forms to donated eyes and tissues were carried out. It was examined that there were more than 100 small children were suffering from cataract and other visual impairment among the crowd and necessary directive and medical advices were given to them by the Manager of Eye Hospital Mr.Ruwan Asiri and Assistant Manager of Eye Hospital Mr.Ajantha Abhayawardana. In order to make this program a success Mr.E.M.H.B.Moragaswewa, the Hon. General Secretary of Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society, Manager of Eye Hospital Mr.Ruwan Asiri, Assistant Manager of Eye Hospital Mr.Ajantha Abhayawardana, Accounts Officer Mr.Gayan Samarakone, Management Assistant Mr.Darshana Pathiraja, Laboratory Assistant Mr.Dulinda Wimalasurendra and Driver Mr.Kasun Peiris participated in the program.
