“Sisu Nethraloka” the eye-checking program to identify low-vision students and provide them with high-quality spectacles, was held at CP/Tel/Dunhinna Secondary School on 08th November 2024. Students of Galabadawatta Primary School also participated in this event. These schools were chosen through the District Secretary of the Kandy District.
209 students of CP/Tel/Dunhinna Secondary School and 79 students of Galabadawatta Primary School were checked during this program, and 32 students from both schools identified as having low vision were given high-quality spectacles later. Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society spent more than Rs.100,000.00 for this project.
Apart from the above, the students were instructed on how to find out about and prevent eye disease and how to use spectacles properly.
