“Sisu Nethraloka” the eye-checking program to identify low-vision students from low-income families and provide them with high-quality spectacles, was held at Po/Hingu/Yodha Ela Maha Vidyalaya on 12th October 2023.
252 students were checked during this program and 09 students identified as having low-vision, were given high-quality spectacles later. Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society spent more than Rs.100,000.00 for this project. Few students with eye disease were directed to get treatment.
Apart from the above, the students were instructed on how to find out and prevent eye disease and how to use spectacles properly.
This school was chosen through the District Secretary of the Polonnaruwa District and this was the fourth program of a series to be held in every district of the country.
