On 31st August 2019 a religious ceremony followed by a “Pahan Pooja” to bestow merit on Late Deshabandu Dr. Hudson Silva and Mrs.Silva and those who donated eyes & tissues was held at the historical “Aluthgama Kande Viharaya” with the participation of a large gathering of devotees.
Two busses left from the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society head office carrying members of the Society, the staff and relatives of those who donated eyes and tissues.
A beautiful pageant with the participation of devotees bearing “Kanchuka Flag” was started at 3.00 pm from Kaluwamodara Junction and reached the temple and a “Bodhi Pooja” was conducted by the Ven.Aviththawe Saradha Thero followed by a “Muruthan Pooja” for Devalayas and “Gilanpasa” for Sanga to bestow merit on Late Deshabandu Dr. Hudson Silva and Mrs. Silva and those who donated eyes & tissues.
On completion of the religious activities a sufficient numbers of street lamps were donated to the temple in collaboration with the officers of the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society.
