A special program was held at the Eye Donation Society Headquarters premises to celebrate the Wesak festival on 06th and 07th May 2023.
A rotating “Wesak Pahan Koodu” resembling Pattirippuwa of the temple of the tooth relic at Kandy was exhibited to the public and in parallel to that, a Dansal to feed the devotees was also taken place for two days. More than 2,000 people participated in the program and they were fed rice, string hoppers, etc. Ice cream was given as dessert.
In addition to the above programs, a special eye-checking program was also held to distribute spectacles. 760 spectacles were distributed free of charge during this program. A program on signing of consent forms was also held at the human tissue bank building premises.
Mr.Sanjeewa Wimalagunaratna, the Director General of the NGO Secretariat, participated as a guest of honour for this program on 06th May 2023.
