The rehabilitation International (RI) award for outstanding achievements 2019 organized by the RI secretariat located in New York City, USA has recognized Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society as the final winner of the 2019 among more than 100 countries applied for the award.
This international award was obtained by the society in recognition with the substantial role played in promoting eye donation in Sri Lanka and providing corneas to patients worldwide in eradicating blindness.
The awarding ceremony was held on November 01st 2019 in Moscow with participation of RI officials, the Sri Lanka Ambassador to Russia Dr.Dayan Jayathilake and Mr.E.M.H.B.Moragaswewa, the Hon. General Secretary of Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society, Mr.Wijitha Manamperi, a member of Board of Trustees as representatives.
On behalf of Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society Mr.Wijitha Manamperi has delivered an important speech on Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society and the humanitarian services carried out by the society. All the dignitaries who have been presented had greatly appreciated the humanitarian services rendered to the world by the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society.
As a role of honour a welcome ceremony was organized at the Bandaranaike International Airport by the Hon. President of Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society Mr.Hewa Wellalage Piyadasa, other officers and the staff of Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society.
